Restorative Yoga is the practice of holding postures for a period of time with the support of props. This will allow you to just be in the pose, and release stress and tension. This can also be a difficult practice as well in the mental sense. Sometimes when you are stagnant in a pose, thoughts can arise, causing chitta vritti (cluttering of the mind). So to help support this, Reiki will be offered during the practice.
Reiki means “spiritual energy” or “universal life force”. It’s a meditative practice and a holistic hands on technique originating in Japan. Reiki helps the body heal itself and being mind, body, and spirit into alignment.
To ensure optimal relaxation, we will close our practice with Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep is the state of consciousness in between sleeping and waking. You will be guided through a light withdrawl of your 5 senses, allowing yourself to really turn inward, bringing you one step closer to Samadhi.
We will begin a very gentle asana practice to get the body warm, so please wear clothes you are comfortable moving in. If you are allergic or sensitive to any scents, please let the studio know.
This workshop is on Saturday March 23rd from 2-4pm. EVENT STARTS PROMPTLY & there are no refunds for no shows or late arrivals.
